The Growing Healthcare Field In Alaska

Healthcare has been a growing industry all over the world in for the past 50 years, and it is expected to grow further. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the field is expected to grow by more than 26 percent from 2012 to 2022, due to a variety of different factors ranging from aging baby boomers to an increase in population.* These factors are very much affecting the growth in Alaska. The Department of Labor and Workforce Development states that in 2010 31,800 jobs were provided in this industry, contributing to 1.5 billion in payroll.**

To attest to this growth the graph below shows a steady growth of 1000 jobs per year, with 10,000 jobs created in the past 10 years. A majority of these jobs are within hospitals (40.3%), doctors offices (31.9%), and nursing/residential care (10.9%).**

Currently, 10% of all jobs are in health care and that number is bound to increase, as the market for healthcare is expecting to grow by 125% in the next 16 years.**

With over 25 years of experience, we have seen growth like this before. So, whether you are an employer looking for the best candidates that Alaska has to offer, or a job searching hopeful, Perplus will make sure that your employment needs are met.
